The Major Similarities
- None of the courses assume any
previous investing experience or any particular investing style.
Each course will be beneficial to conservative investors as well as
to aggressive investors. Each course will be as valuable to investors who prefer to work on their own as
to those who prefer to work with an advisor.
- All courses teach the basic principles
of investing and provide a step-by-step process for setting investing
goals and developing a detailed Investing Plan and related portfolio
for meeting each goal.
- All courses provide a methodology and
resources for identifying and evaluating funds and stocks for
inclusion in your portfolio.
- All courses point to Web resources
that will enable you to effectively monitor and manage your portfolio. All courses suggest a
portfolio review schedule and provide a checklist of items to evaluate
on a periodic basis.
- All courses have a testing module to
reinforce your learning retention.
- All courses provide rewards for
completing the material
The Major Differences
- Topics covered in the
"Confident
Investing" and "Certification Program" courses that are not fully covered in
the "Smart Investing" course include the following: more detail in the areas
of Index Funds and Exchange Traded Funds, Sector Investing, Economic
Indicators, the Business Cycle, greater detail on Fund and Stock Screening, Building
an Investing Team, Setting Up a Complete Investing Environment, and
advanced topics such as Short Selling and Trading Stock Options
(Certification Program only). The advanced courses also explore the world of
fund and stock due diligence in more depth.
- In general, the two advanced courses
provide a more in-depth study of investing topics than is found in
the "Smart
Investing" course. This is evidenced by the greater number
of lessons, test questions and estimated hours for completion.
Selection Suggestions
- You major decision is
between selecting the Smart Investing Course and selecting one of the two
advanced courses. Select the Smart Investing Course if you are just
starting to explore the world of investing and want to get a
"taste" for what is required to become a confident
investor. You can always upgrade to a more advanced course after
graduating. You will receive a discounted price for doing so.
- Select one of the more
advanced courses if you are willing to commit the time and effort
required to complete a college level course in investing that can
empower you to strive for investing goals that significantly exceed market average
returns.
