Calculator IconNAOI Education Translated Into Real Dollars

Far too often investor education resources leave you wondering just what is the benefit of completing the material. InvestorPlace Institute wants you to know exactly the benefits of completing one or more of our courses. Use the calculator presented below to see how the knowledge and resources provided by the InvestorPlace Institute translate directly into real dollars.

Using the calculator:
In the first column enter an expected annual return rate for your portfolio. Perhaps this is a number that you have been told is possible by your broker or advisor. Or maybe you have heard an opinion in the media. For a moderately conservative, long-term portfolio, 8% is not an unreasonable number for a passive investor. Then in the following columns enter the amount you have to invest now, the amount you can contribute on a monthly basis, the number of years until you will begin to withdraw money and your tax bracket (leave "zero" for tax-sheltered accounts).

Click the "Calc" button to display the expected portfolio value at the end of your time horizon. Then look below the data entry row. At the right of each row, in the "Additional Wealth" column, is the real dollar value of education.

Note 1: Enter percentages as whole numbers - e.g. for 6% just enter 6.
Note2: Enter no dollar signs, commas, decimal points, e.g. for one million dollars simply enter 1000000
Note 3: These numbers are estimates only, different assumptions will result in different numbers

Expected % Return Initial $ Deposit Monthly $ Deposit Number of Years % Tax Bracket   Expected $ Total Additional
Wealth

Expected Rate plus 1% - You can probably add 1% to your returns with a 20 minute analysis and adjustment of your current portfolio.
Expected Rate plus 3% - This increase requires a moderate amount of attention to your investments, but not much.
Expected Rate plus 5% - This increase and higher are well within your capabilities

Look in the final column of the table. This is the additional wealth that you have the potential to accumulate by devoting time and effort to learning how to invest and taking a personal role in managing your portfolio. This increased wealth does not necessarily result from you becoming an "active" trader or greater risk-taker. It comes simply from your making smarter and more informed investing decisions, regardless of your investing style.

You can see that Knowledge and Involvement in the investing process translate directly into Real Dollars.
