Your
Investing "Style": An Overview Each
individual with money to invest is unique. Some are conservative,
others are aggressive. Some are experienced investors, others are
new to the field. Some have a significant sum of money to invest, others are
just beginning their investing careers. All
of these factors and others combine to define your unique investing
"style". NAOI
Study Courses are designed to meet the needs of investors of all
styles. They can significantly increase your investing effectiveness
regardless of whether you:
-
Have a little money
or a lot to invest
-
Are an experienced
investor or a novice
-
Have aggressive
investing goals or conservative goals
-
Have a high risk
tolerance or one that is low
-
Have investing
goals that are long-term - e.g. 10+ years - or short-term - e.g.
increase portfolio return NOW
-
Are interested in
becoming personally involved in the investing process or prefer to
work with an advisor
-
Are willing to
devote multiple hours per week to the investing process or only a
couple of hours per month
All of these elements
combine to define your investing style.
NAOI Courses Support
ALL Investing Styles
The NAOI does not
advocate that you adopt any particular investing style. How can we? We
don't know your current financial situation, your risk tolerance or
your willingness to become involved in the process. No legitimate
education resource should try to convince you that one type of
"style" is better than another. There is only a
"style" that is best for you.
The NAOI product line
is designed to support any type of investing style. Its modular nature
allows you to pick and choose those courses that fit your unique
situation. For example, if you are a conservative investor then you
may be satisfied with completing only Courses 1 and 2 of the Confident
Investing Series that give you the basics of investing and show you
how to put in place a Core Fund Portfolio. If your investing goals are
higher and you are willing to become more involved in the investing
process then you will want to consider Courses 3 through 5, each
dealing with a more potentially profitable investing activity.
Do NOT Adopt a
Default Style!
The investing
style you have currently adopted may be one of "default".
You may be a passive, "hands-off" investor simply because you
can see no other realistic alternatives. You
may, by default, have simply given your portfolio to a third party advisor because
you don't believe yourself to be capable of making informed investing
decisions. This needs to change.
As an NAOI graduate
will have the capacity to adopt any investing style you choose. And it
probably will NOT be the one you have now. Read on.
Choosing Your Investing Style
The style of investing you choose will be a personal
decision. It
will be based multiple factors as listed above. It will include the level of your goals, your
risk tolerance, the amount of money you have to invest, your level of
confidence and the amount of time you are willing to dedicate to the
investing process. These are factors unique to you and that you
must consider when deciding the investing style to adopt.
The NAOI strongly suggests, however, that you do NOT determine your
optimal investing style until you have completed the NAOI Confident
Investing Series. You may now view yourself as a conservative
investor with little time or interest in becoming involved in the
investing process. This view of your "style" is probably
based on false assumptions. As
an NAOI graduate these assumptions may, and probably will, change.
Many new students who attend NAOI college classes enter our programs
with a semi-defeatist attitude. They are skeptical, believing that investing is too difficult for
the average person. Yet we frequently see a dramatic change in these
students as they move through the NAOI course material. When they learn how to invest
and become aware of the Web resources available to them for free, students
often change from skeptical to excited investors, eager
to begin realizing the full potential of their investment portfolio.
Start with a Clean Slate
So, when considering what style of investing to adopt, erase all
preconceptions and start with a clean slate. The type of investor you
believe yourself to be now is probably not the type of investor you
will choose to be after graduating from one or more NAOI course. Knowledge will
give you an entirely new perspective on the field of investing, one
that will enable you to make informed choices. And the choice to adopt
a more proactive investing "style" can result in tens or
hundreds of thousands of dollars in increased wealth over the course
of your investing career.
