The
"NAOI 2008 Confident Investing Education Series"

The Study Program that should be offered in every High School and College in America. Its that important.

A One Page Overview

The "NAOI 2008 Confident Investing Series" is the most effective individual investor empowerment resource available today. An overview of why this is true is presented on this page. More details are found throughout this NAOI site.

Here, in a nutshell, is what makes this program of study unique: Students who complete all five courses in the Confident Investing Series will receive a college-level education in personal investing. They will need to actively participate in the learning process and answer close to 400 online questions to graduate. Completion time is approximately 20-30 hours of study. This program offers a clear choice to investors.

Individuals who simply want to "read about investing" will be happier browsing the aisles of the local bookstore. Individuals who are serious about "learning how to invest" are best served by completing the NAOI program described here. "Books" are quickly read and quickly forgotten. NAOI Courses take time and effort to complete but provide graduates a lifetime of confident investing.

Have you ever noticed that with some so-called "education" products it is virtually impossible to find out what they cost? This is because many charge in the $3,000-$5,000 range just to get started and then there is a monthly data fee. This is preposterous.  The entire NAOI Confident Investing Education Series costs just $349. This is truly education for ALL individuals!

Why Are NAOI Courses the Most Effective
Individual Investor Empowerment Resource Available Today?

Simply offering another " investing book", " glossary of terms" or set of 30 minute " mini-courses" would not make the NAOI the premier provider of investor education in the market today. NAOI courses do not fit the old, tired mold of investor education that is being rejected by the public as ineffective. Today's individual with money to invest wants something new, something fresh and something better. The NAOI understands this public demand and offers courses that are unlike any other offering in the market. The elements that make NAOI courses unique are summarized below.
More Than Education: Total Empowerment

A simple description of investing concepts is not sufficient to produce confident investors. Reading is not learning and information is not education. Students need a program that provides not only knowledge but also actively involves them in the learning process, then gives them resources for transforming knowledge into action. And this requires a totally new approach. Following are the revolutionary features of all NAOI courses that do more than "educate" investors - they "empower" investors.

  • A Multi-Media Format - All NAOI courses consist of a hardcopy book seamlessly integrated with an online component. This format enables total investor empowerment by combining knowledge and planning with a full range of action resources. (more)

  • A True Learning Environment - NAOI courses were designed based on input from the academic world. True learning must be more than just words on a page. It requires the structure and discipline of a college course. It mandates active student participation in the learning process accompanied by testing, knowledge reinforcement, motivation and reward. The online component of each course format enables the NAOI to offer these features as a part of a true learning environment.

  • A Roadmap to the Web. Education without action is not effective. Fortunately the Web offers amazing resources that enable individuals to take action based on what they learn. Yet the Web is a maze of confusing sites ranging from incredibly useful to outright scams. The NAOI continuously scans the Web for the best sites in a full range of investing activities. These are incorporated in NAOI courses were relevant. This is more than simply a listing of Web sites. It is a roadmap to the best sites combined with education on when/how to use each. (more)

  • More than Education: Total Investor Empowerment. The above listed factors empower NAOI graduates to invest with confidence. They have the knowledge, the plan and the action resources needed to take personal control of all or a part of their portfolios - whether they work with an advisor or on their own. A Fresh Approach to Investing

Investor education has not had an overhaul in over 50 years and what is presented today is rapidly becoming obsolete. The same tired content in a new wrapper is not what the public wants. Investors today have access to new investing types, new ways of trading and the tremendous power of the Web. All traditional concepts of investing must be refreshed to take these factors into account. This is what NAOI courses do. Following are a few examples.

  • A New Method for Setting Goals - Effective investing begins with setting the right goals. NAOI courses teach individuals to set goals that they really want to achieve in life and then show how they can be reached with a minimum of risk. NAOI students do not passively accept investing goals set for them by a third party advisor. (more)

  • A New Method for Portfolio Construction - Simple asset allocation, while still a key element of investing, is not sufficient to unlock the wealth potential of a portfolio. The new NAOI portfolio construction approach uses Portfolio Segments, each dealing with a different type of investing activity, to build an optimal portfolio. This methodology enables individuals to unleash the full wealth potential of their investments. (more)

  • A New Definition for Investing Risk. Outdated investing texts limit the definition of risk mainly to Market Risk and Company Risk. They totally ignore the devastating effects of "Advisor Bias Risk" and "Investor Ignorance Risk". NAOI courses explain these additional risk factors and show how they can be minimized. (more)

  • Factoring in Investor Involvement. Almost all traditional investor education resources assume that individuals are not interested or capable of taking personal control of their portfolios. As a result they teach a "passive" approach to investing. The NAOI knows from numerous surveys that individuals are willing to become involved in the investing process if given the right education and action resources. Our courses give student these critical elements of effective investing and teach a more "involved" approach to investing. (more)

Your Investing Style

Each individual with money to invest is unique. Some are conservative, others are aggressive. Some are experienced investors, others are new to the field. Some have a significant sum of money to invest, others are just beginning their investing careers. All of these factors and others combine to define your unique investing "style".

NAOI Study Courses are designed to meet the needs of investors of all styles. They can significantly increase your investing effectiveness regardless of whether you:

  • Have a little money or a lot to invest

  • Are an experienced investor or a novice

  • Have aggressive investing goals or conservative goals

  • Have a high risk tolerance or one that is low

  • Have investing goals that are long-term - e.g. 10+ years - or short-term - e.g. increase portfolio return NOW

  • Are interested in becoming personally involved in the investing process or prefer to work with an advisor

  • Are willing to devote multiple hours per week to the investing process or only a couple of hours per month

All of these elements combine to define your investing style.

NAOI Courses Support ALL Investing Styles

The NAOI does not advocate that you adopt any particular investing style. How can we? We don't know your current financial situation, your risk tolerance or your willingness to become involved in the process. No legitimate education resource should try to convince you that one type of "style" is better than another. There is only a "style" that is best for you.

The NAOI product line is designed to support any type of investing style. Its modular nature allows you to pick and choose those courses that fit your unique situation. For example, if you are a conservative investor you may be satisfied with completing only Courses 1 and 2 of the Confident Investing Series. they give you the basics of investing and show you how to put in place a Core Fund Portfolio. If your investing return goals are higher and you are willing to become more involved in the investing process then you will want to consider Courses 3 through 5. Each deals with a more potentially profitable investing activity.

Do NOT Adopt a Default Style!

The investing style you have currently adopted may be one of "default". You may now be a passive, "hands-off" investor simply because you can see no other realistic alternatives. You may, by default, have simply given your portfolio to a third party advisor because you don't believe yourself to be capable of making informed investing decisions. This needs to change. You ARE capable of taking more personal control of your investments and reaching goals that are far higher than you may now think possible. You simply need to be willing to dedicate time and effort to learning how to invest. In the Confident Investing Series you have the resource. You must supply the motivation.

NAOI's Founder and President

NAOI President, Mr. Lee Hevner, founded the NAOI in 1997 after over a decade of personal investing and online trading. During this time he realized that individuals had tremendous power via the Web to trade stocks. Yet when he searched for comprehensive, objective education to learn how to effectively use this power it wasn't to be found. He watched as thousands of individuals lost millions of dollars because they did not understand the basics of how investing works. As Mr. Hevner went through the painstaking process of learning how to invest he pledged to document his research and make it available to the general public. This pledge resulted in the creation of the National Association of Online Investors and the offering of the most comprehensive and effective education resources for individual investors available in the market today.

Mr. Hevner has published nine investor education books to date and currently teaches personal investing in the classroom at the college level. He has been called upon by a multitude of media organizations to provide expert commentary in the area of personal investing. He has been quoted and featured in multiple national newspapers and magazines in addition to appearing on all three major TV networks and CNBC.
