NAOI
Education and Involvement Translate Into Real Dollars
It probably makes intuitive sense that the more
time you spend on your investing activities the higher should be your
portfolio return. But translating time into dollars is not a given. For
uninformed or uneducated individuals time spent with their investments will
probably not increase portfolio returns and may even decrease them. On the
other hand, as an NAOI graduate you WILL have the knowledge and tools to
translate time into dollars.
But just how much is your NAOI education worth?
What is the "pay-back"? We provide the NAOI "Real Dollars" Calculator below
on this page to
address this
question.
The NAOI "Real Dollars"
Calculator
The calculator presented below illustrates, in
real dollar terms, the real benefits of becoming a knowledgeable investor and participating in
the investing process. It shows the added wealth you can attain over the long
term by adding just a few percentage points to the annual return of your
portfolio. And the purpose of all NAOI Education Courses is to enable you to
add these percentage points to your portfolio returns.
Using the calculator: In the first
column of the first row of the calculator enter
the return you now believe you can reasonably expect from your portfolio;
before taking any NAOI course. Perhaps this is a
return percentage that you
have been told is possible by your broker or advisor. Or maybe you have heard
an opinion in the media as to how the market will perform. For a moderately conservative, long-term portfolio, 8% is not an unreasonable
number for a passive investing style. But enter a number of your choosing.
Then, in the following columns of the
calculator, enter the amount you have to invest now, the
amount you can contribute on a monthly basis, the number of years until you
will begin to withdraw money and your tax bracket (leave the "zero" for
tax sheltered accounts).
Click the "Calc" button to display
the expected
account value at the end of your time horizon. Then look below the data entry
row. Each row shows your initial expected return rate PLUS incremental returns of 1%, 3% and
5%. This is a range of additional returns
that you can reasonably expect as
a more educated and involved investor. The "Additional Wealth" column at the
right of the table shows you exactly the dollar value of NAOI education and
increased involvement.
Note 1: Enter percentages as
whole numbers - e.g. for 6% just enter 6
Note 2:
DO NOT ENTER dollar signs, commas
or
decimal points, e.g. for one million dollars simply enter 1000000
Note 3: These numbers are estimates only, different assumptions
will result in different numbers
