The National
Association of Online Investors ( NAOI) is committed to upholding the
highest security and privacy standards. We respect and protect your
personally identifiable information and do not use your information in
any manner not previously disclosed and accepted in our privacy policy.
General
Information Collection and Use
Anyone
can visit the NAOI public Web site without disclosing who they are or
revealing any personal information about themselves. We track the
Internet addresses of the individuals who visit our site in order to
analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement and gather
broad demographic information, but this data is not linked in any way to
individual personally identifiable information. The information we
collect creates a broad picture of our population and is used to
continually refine our content, identify the most popular areas of our
site and improve our services.
Member
Sign Up and information Use
The
NAOI collects basic contact information (such as name, address, phone
number and email address) when you sign up to become a Member of the
NAOI. During the sign up procedure you must specify a User ID and a
Password that enable you to access the Members Only portion of the NAOI
site. You may begin accessing the Members Only portion of the site
immediately upon completion of the enrollment process. Your personal information is only used for the NAOI's internal
administrative and identification purposes. We do not share the
information of our members with any third party with the exceptions
explained immediately below.
Third
Party Sponsored Memberships
NAOI
Memberships may be offered to individuals by a third party organization
through an NAOI Group Membership or a Partnership Agreement.
Under such agreements the third party organization may provide NAOI
Membership to you at no, or reduced, cost. Under such agreements the
NAOI might not collect billing information from you but must still
collect basic contact information and
ask you to specify a User ID and Password when you sign up in order to
create a unique membership data record for you. If you sign up as an
NAOI Member under the sponsorship of a third party organization then you
should know that all information gathered by the NAOI may be revealed to
this sponsoring organization. An example would be if your employer
enters into a Group Membership Agreement with the NAOI to enable employees to sign up as members at no charge to the individual.
Another example would be if a discount broker entered a Partnership
Agreement to enable clients to become NAOI members at no, or
reduced, charge to
the individual. In either case the NAOI may inform the sponsoring
party that you have taken advantage of their offer.
Changing
Your Personal Information
The
NAOI Web site provides you with the means to update or change your
personal information should you become a member. You may review and update your personal data at
any time by entering the area on the NAOI Members Only site entitled
“Review / Change Your Personal Data”.
User
ID and Password
You
must enter your User ID and Password every time you sign in to the
Members Only section of the NAOI Web site. Your User ID and Password
serve as your personal key to the NAOI Investing Study Course you have
chosen. Without this
information, no other individual can access data related to your
progress through the Study Course. If you
lose your password the system will give you the option of having it
emailed to you at the email address stored in your member record. If you
lose your User ID then you will need to contact the NAOI for help.
Encrypted
Credit Card Purchases
When
you use a credit card to join the NAOI, the credit card number and
related information is encrypted as it passes over the Internet. The
latest software from VeriSignâ
and CyberCashâ
is utilized to ensure the complete security of the transaction. Your
credit card number is simply passed through to the credit card company
to purchase membership. In this respect, buying an NAOI Membership using
the online purchase method is similar to a credit card purchase at any
store. It is fast, easy and secure.
In
addition, we are sensitive to the fact that some users are uncomfortable
submitting their credit card number over the Internet, no matter how
secure the environment. For this reason, it is also possible to join the
NAOI via a phone call using a credit card or by sending a check in the
mail along with the required data. Individuals utilizing the mail will
experience a delay in accessing the NAOI content while the mail is
delivered and the check is cleared. With credit card transactions,
either online or via the phone, you will be able to access the NAOI
content immediately after your credit card is approved.
Constant
Network Vigilance
The
NAOI's network administration team constantly monitors the data security
systems to make sure that your personal information is safe and secure.
All of your information exists within a secure corporate environment.
Only authorized individuals such as database administrators have access
to membership data files.
Notification
of Changes
If
we make any changes to our privacy policy, we will post the changes on
our site so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we
use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. In the event
NAOI enters into a business combination or changes its form of business
entity, information collected via our Web site may be transferred to the
surviving or new entity.
Legal
Disclaimer
Although
the NAOI makes every effort to preserve user privacy, the company may
need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein the
NAOI has a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply
with a current administrative or judicial proceeding, a civil or
criminal subpoena or court order or legal process served on our Web
site. When
commercially feasible, NAOI will provide you with notice of such request
for information collected from our Web site.
